Blazers are often synonymous with "work wear". AKA, most people think they're stuffy, and boring. But to me, I think blazers can be one of the most exciting, versatile pieces in your wardrobe. They're comfy, and can easily transform any look from casual to chic.

My absolute favorite way to wear a blazer is with a vintage band tee or other graphic tank. By layering one underneath, it immediately takes all the stuffiness out of the blazer, and gives the look a little bit more of a casual vibe.  I wore this look to an event at Sweetgreen in San Francisco with Julia, and wanted to look professional and put together, but still low-key. By layering this Kurt Cobain tank underneath, and pairing it with a pair of good ole' black leggings, it gave this look the perfect amount of casual-cool that it needed.

Another way to make your blazers actually look cool? Pair it with some cool kicks. Sneakers and sandals are a go-to. This is one situation where it's probably best to ditch the loafers and/or ballet flats (again, we don't want any stuffy, business-casual vibes going on).  This time, I opted for my uber-comfortable Hush Puppies shoes. I've talked time and time again about how much I absolutely love love love my Hush Puppies shoes, especially for a day spent walking around SF. Not only are they super chic, but they have memory foam on the inside (can I get a hell yeah?!) which is perfect for walking up those giant SF hills. I know the shape of them is very hit-or-miss- they're an interesting mix between a loafer and a bootie- yet I absolutely love them, and have already worn them a ton.

Blazers don't just have to be for the workplace: they can easily be transformed into a cute, chic staple piece. I highly recommend checking out your local thrift stores to find one. Or even Depop (where I got mine for only $7!) I dare you. ;)
