Bracelets: The Future is Female (c/o) Infinity (c/o)

As I've started to define myself, my work, and my blog, I've become more and more picky with the brand I work with. I know people would be appalled with me saying this, especially other bloggers, but I believe that transparency is the key to building trust, so I always want to be as completely open with you guys as possible.  But anyway, yes, I turn down more collaborations than I take on.  As the voice and the message of "The Road to Hannah" comes clearer into focus, I only want to work with brands that align with this voice and message 110%.

Lucky for me, Bird + Stone is one of those brands.

I was immediately hooked on their dedication to "socially responsible jewelry".  Jewelry that is not only produced ethically, but that goes right back into the people, and benefits those who need it most.  I'm not shy about my social activism, so any brand that successfully supports this is a brand I am always game to work with.

They were kind enough to send me two bracelets to check out, and I'm absolutely in love with both of them.  The first, the "Future is Female" cuff, is awesome.  It's adjustable, so it's great for people like me who have baby-sized wrists (not kidding).  Plus, for every bracelet purchased, $5 goes to Planned Parenthood NYC.  And no, your $5 is not going towards abortions. It's going to STD testing, birth control, mammograms, prenatal care, free condoms, male sexual health checkups, Pap Smears, Pelvic Exams, Endometriosis testing... amongst other things. Essentially, it ensures that everyone, regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, income, etc., have access to reproductive healthcare. I'm not going to go on and on, because that's another topic for another post, but let's leave it at the fact that you can buy a cute bracelet and have the proceeds go to a great cause.  Three cheers for looking cute and giving people access to reproductive healthcare!

The second, beaded bracelet is absolutely gorgeous.  I love all the muted neutral colors together, and the sizing... ugh, the sizing is perfect.  Again, I have baby-sized wrists, so finding any bracelet that properly fits me can be a major pain in the butt.  But, this one happens to fit me perfectly, without flopping around all over my wrist.  While this bracelet doesn't go to benefit Planned Parenthood, the proceeds go to an equally-amazing cause.  15% of the proceeds go to the Sisi Fund, a micro-finance organization that helps empower and provide support to women entrepreneurs in Kenya.  They teach business, agriculture, and accounting to women in different villages, to help inspire them to become business owners of their own.  It's so important that we encourage more women worldwide to become business owners and innovators, so why not help out and get a cute bracelet, too?

These bracelets are gorgeous and I'm sure I'll be wearing them more throughout the summer.  If you like them, and like empowering women, then be sure to head to Bird + Stone to check out all their ethically + sustainably made jewels.

Oh, and these photos? Yeah, there's a whole lot more where they came from. Expect another post coming soon with the rest of this dreamy photoset by my darling friend, Lauren.  I can't wait to share the rest of them.  But until then, these should hold you over. ;)
