On The Shelf No. 2

On The Shelf No. 2

My darling friend Jenny said it best.  Right now, I find myself constantly revisiting the world of Harry Potter...more so than usual.  In an uncanny parallel, the events of HP seem to mirror the events going on in America right now.  It's scary but comforting in a sense.  It makes me feel like this entire political mess will turn out...maybe a little less messy than anticipated.

The entire Harry Potter series is one that will always be a favorite of mine on my shelf.  Since I was in middle school and first read them, I've continued to visit and revisit them year after year after year.  Like for many others, Harry Potter is one of those stories that I just can't let go of.

It's interesting, because I can't exactly pinpoint why it means so much to me.  If you asked me to name one or two reasons why, I would probably draw a blank.  There are some things that we just can't explain, no matter how hard we try.  In times when we need comforting, laughter, smiles, or a good cry, Harry Potter seems to always be there. Like Dumbledore said, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome us home.

And right now, we need Harry Potter more than ever.  But more than anything, we need it for guidance.  Guidance on how to get through what'll undoubtedly be a very rough next four years.

If Harry Potter is any indication of what's to come, then us rebels will win this fight against evil. But it might just take using everything we've got.
