Springtime Basics

The one thing I love most about the bay area? It's always warm enough to wear shorts / a dress, but always cold enough to wear a sweater.  It's truly the best of both worlds, especially, in the spring and fall, where the weather is still bearable.

I've been wanting a nice high neck, black sweater thats not quite a turtleneck, but still a high neck. I'm one of those people who absolutely haaaaaaaates things touching my neck (chokers = cute, but torture) so a restricting turtleneck is no bueno.  Yet, I found the perfect one from Romwe.  I'll admit, I was nervous ordering this, hoping I wouldn't have to pass it on to a friend due to the neckline, but I'm happy to say that its literally perfect.  It's a very loose turtle neck, so it gives the same look without feeling like someone tied a noose around you.  I'm wearing a size small, and it's perfectly oversized on me.  Also, I'm totally obsessed with these lantern sleeves. They give the perfect statement to this "basic" top.

I kept this look super simple, and decided not to pair it with any jewelry.  Some outfits just feel so good on their own, you know? I think people often  underestimate the power of a few perfectly-crafted basics.  But as I'm sure you've noticed, I'm a "basic" girl (not literally... yoga pants are for the gym and Starbucks is meh) so I love an outfit consisting of some good ole basics.  Sometimes, I think I like it even more than a statement look.

What do you prefer, a statement look or a basic look??
