Manifesting Your DREAM Home - 3 Tips!
Since moving to the Bay Area over two-and-a-half years ago now (whaaat!!! Time has literally flown by), I've found a little home-away-from-home within the Oakland, a vibrant city that sits on the (better) side of the bay from San Francisco. With its First Fridays, rich music culture, and bustling vegan food scene, it's a city I fell in love with from the first time I stepped inside it. Well, maybe not the first time. But nevertheless, it's a city I grew to love. Although I don't live there quite yet (but will one day soon), I find myself frequenting there at least 2-4 times a week, and have subsequently built my entire life out there. All of my friends, my photography clients, my work opportunities... all of it is out there. I'm certainly not complaining, though- I love spending as much time out there as possible. Its come leaps and bounds from the drug and crime ridden scene it once was years ago, and has changed ultimately for the better (and the not-so-better in terms of gentrification). I can't wait to live there one day, and hopefully put down roots there once I'm ready to start a family of my own.
But since we're talking about my dream location today, I figured what better thing to talk about than manifesting your dream home? Or dream location, or even dream vacation? Either way, they all go hand-in-hand, and are relatively the same thing!
For those who are new to the world to manifestation, it's basically the process of bringing a thought to life, using the powerful vibrational energy of your mind. While that may sound incredibly hippy-dippy, hear me out: manifestation is a legitimate thing. There are hundreds of thousands of stories out there of people manifesting everything from their dream partner to their perfect career to a baby and even a parking spot. Yes, it's possible to manifest literally anything in the world that you want. But today, we're focusing on a place to call home.
Manifesting a home is a bit different than manifesting anything else, in the fact that it's a little more tangible. It's easier to go visit the city you want to live in, or even rent an Airbnb there for a few months, than it is to, say, pick your dream lover out of a crowd and kiss them. It's easier to hold a plane ticket to where you want to be than to hold all the money you hope to make in your lifetime, in your hands.
Because of this, it's a bit easier for people to manifest their home, as it's easier for them to believe it. It's harder for us to believe, or envision, making a million dollars than it is to imagine us in a city we can actually go to. Do you see what I mean?
Now, I'm not going to go over the basics of manifestation / the Law of Attraction because I already did that here! Definitely refer to that post if you're new to this school of thought before continuing on with this one. This is simply meant to add on to the ideas I talked about there. Sound good? Good. Let's jump into it. Here are three tips for manifesting your dream home, three action steps that you can take today to help you get on track with reaching your goals.
1. Pinpoint Exactly What You Want- And Write It Down!
The first (and most important) step you should take when trying to manifest something specific is to determine what exactly it is you want. The Universe loves when you get specific on things, so don't be afraid to get as specific as possible- "I have a 3 bedroom two-story home in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco." (not that this is what I want, this is purely an example). You can go even more specific if you want, "I have a house on Folsom St." or you can go as general as you want, "I have a house in San Francisco County." While this is totally up to you and YOUR preference on how to approach your desires, I definitely align with the beliefs that getting as specific as you possibly can is the better way to go. It's a way of ensuring that you get exactly what you want. For example, say you really want that house in Bernal Heights, but you set your intention only as, "I have a house in San Francisco County." That intention could very well manifest as a house in Daly City. Sure, it's not exactly what you want, but it is exactly what you asked for- a house in San Francisco County.
It's kind of like placing an order at a restaurant. Say, you really want a veggie burger with cheese, pickles, and onions. But when you place the order to the server, you just ask for a burger with onions. When you get your order back, you end up finding a beef patty with cheese, pickles, and onions, but with lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, and relish as well. It's not at all what you wanted, but it certainly adheres to the qualifications of what you asked for. Working with the Universe is the same way. If you aren't as specific as possible, chances are, you'll end up with something that's similar, but yet, incredibly different from what you want.
Now how do you make these specifics happen? How do you get certain on your details to the point where you can get as specific as possible? My advice- write that sh*t down. Make a detailed list of everything that you want. A lot of people who use the Law of Attraction to manifest things into their life take this action step, and I find it incredibly helpful. Take a few moments to sit down in a quiet, clean space and allow yourself to daydream. Then, grab a notebook and a pen and start jotting down everything that comes to mind. Even if it sounds superficial and stupid- "I will have a house with a view of the water from my bedroom window." No matter how stupid you may think it sounds, write that sh*t down. By writing it into place, it's a way of reaffirming that desire. It's kind of like you have an entire menu in front of you, and you're picking out the things you'd like to eat.
Another quick tip- make sure you write things in the tense of "I have" and not "I want". Part of manifesting is to believe you already have it, so by saying "I have", it gets you into the mindset of pretending like you already have it, rather than "I want", which acknowledges the fact that you don't have it yet. Again, if this sounds confusing or isn't making sense, go read that post I linked above.
2. Surround Yourself With the Place You want to Be
My next tip is to surround yourself with where you want to be! This can happen in many ways, and is especially powerful if you live close enough to where you want to be. For example, I live about a 25-30 minute drive from Oakland, so it's easy for me to go there all the time. Whether I'm having coffee with a friend, or just taking a walk by myself through the woods, I tend to spend most of my free time out there. Why? Because it makes me feel good. I love the vibration I feel when I'm out there- light, airy, and at peace. So naturally, because I want to be there and because I feel so good when I'm there, I tend to immerse myself in the city as much as possible.
But say you're on the opposite end of the spectrum, and you don't live close to the city. It's still possible to surround yourself in it. If you want to live in New York but you really live in California, buy a poster of New York City and stick it on your wall. Watch vlogs of people in New York. Listen to music from New York based artists. Immerse yourself in the culture as much as you can, while being far removed from it.
With this said, though, don't be obsessive about it. Don't feel like everything you do has to revolve around New York. Do things that make you feel good (i.e listening to music), visualize being there, think about it in ways in which it feels right and natural and good, but don't obsess over it. Meaning, don't worry. Don't worry about how it's going to happen, or when, or if you're going to find that apartment you want, or if you'll be able to afford rent... blah blah blah. Don't think about it. Part of this whole process is letting the universe take care of things. Which leads me to my next tip...
3. Let It GO!
While this isn't specific to manifesting a dream home/location and is more just a general Law of Attraction tidbit, one of the most important things you can do is let it go. Again, going off of the last point, don't worry about the what, why, when, and how. That is not your problem. That is on the Universe to sort out, not you. Think of if this way: when you go to a restaurant and place an order for a burger, you aren't worried about when it's coming, or how the waiter will bring it out, or why it's taking a few minutes. You trust that it's going to come, and you don't worry about it. Working with the Law of Attraction is the same way. Don't worry about it, and it'll come. Worry about it, and it'll prolong the process. Now, I'm a type-A personality, so it's kind of in my DNA to be controlling, so I've struggled with this idea a lot. But just remember to keep your faith bigger than your fear, and remember that everything sorts it out in divine timing. As Gabby Bernstein says, "The Universe is always working on our behalf, but not always working on our timeline." If things aren't working according to your timeline, or the way you think things should be, don't fret. Everything you want will come to you, so long as you keep the faith, keep moving forward, and don't try to push things to happen according to your timeline / agenda.
With all of this said, remember that a positive mindset and faith within yourself will allow you to accomplish literally anything. Don't give up, don't surrender. Let yourself be present in the experience and joyful of the process to get you to where you want to be. Everything will work itself out in the end, so long as you just believe.
