Sparkle and Spice Bars: Featured "flavors": Chlorophyll & Bentonite, Black Love, Herbal Bath Salts, Oatmeal and Honey bar.  All C/O

I haven't written a beauty post yet in the new year! *gasp* I know, crazy right?! I have quite a few planned though, so I'm excited to be kicking off a new year of beauty with a review of a new favorite company of mine: Sparkle and Spice Bars.  Ethically sourced, cruelty-free, vegan, black-woman made, and Oakland-based, this company just speaks to me on SO many levels.  I was so excited when their owner and founder, Symmadar, reached out to me about collaborating on a post.  Sparkle and Spice Bars represent absolutely everything I love and look for within a company.

Symmadar was kind enough to send me so many different bars to try, but I wanted to focus on my two favorites: The Chlorophyll & Bentonite bar, and the Black Love bar.  Not only are they so dang cute (I love the little heart on the back of the Black Love bar) but they smell heavenly and work wonders.  To give you a bit of background on these bars and just how much love and thought is put into them, I asked Symmadar to tell us about them herself. First up, the Chlorophyll & Bentonite Bar:

The Chlorophyll and Bentonite Bar is really my baby! It's creation was inspired by my struggle with acne. After trying mainstream products and finding no solution, I decided to do my own research about the healing benefits of nature. I discovered both chlorophyll and bentonite were great for skin and decided to combine them for what turned out to be a powerful bar! That's a bar I don't think I'll ever stop producing, my customers love it!

This bar is by far my favorite of all of them, and has actually replaced my daily cleanser.  I love that it's full of a few - but very powerful- ingredients: coconut oil, tea tree oil, chlorophyll, bentonite... amongst others.  I was actually listening to an interview with beauty expert Kate Somerville recently, and she was talking about how chlorophyll is one of the absolute best ingredients for your skin.  I was thinking about how I needed to add it into my beauty routine, and poof! This bar jumped into my life, and so far my skin has been super happy with it.  Plus, it lathers like a dream, and smells divine! Oh, and stubborn makeup? Don't worry, this bar combats that too.

The Black Love bar is another favorite, and is also great at tackling tough makeup.  This one is a bit more soothing, too.  I like using this one in the shower, as a body scrub.  It leaves your skin feeling soft and smelling absolutely heavenly.  Plus, it has little gold flecks that leave behind a sweet shimmer.  It's not only a great bar, but it's a bar with a great message, too:

The Black Love Bar was inspired by what's going on in the world today. I was thinking, "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye when I created it. African Americans are being murdered by the hands of officers in what seems to be every other week. I wanted to create a Bar that instilled hope in my people and so the Black Love Bar was born.

Overall, I'm super impressed with Sparkle and Spice Bars.  I'm so proud to back this company, and to have found such a lovely soul like Symmadar.  Be sure to follow their Instagram to keep up on all their new products.  All of their social channels are linked below:
