Product Review: HudaBeauty Lip Contour
There's a reason why Huda is the number one beauty influencer in the world... she knows her makeup.
And I'm not just talking about naming the big brands out there, but rather, the science behind makeup. Huda just gets it. She knows what girls want, what they need, and what works.
I was so excited when I walked into Sephora the other day and saw that they had her lip kits in stock. There were three different ones: a rose colored one (Trophy Wife), a deep berry (Vixen), and a light nude (Trendsetter). Though my heart immediately leapt at the sight of the berry one, I ultimately settled on the nude lip kit, Trendsetter. I've been looking to get my hands on a good nude liquid lipstick, and this was the perfect opportunity.
The kit comes with three items: a creamy lip liner and two liquid lipsticks. I have to say, my favorite part of the kit is by far the liner. Recently, I've had a hard time finding a good lip liner to replace my beloved M.A.C "Whirl" (why, oh why can't M.A.C be cruelty free), and had yet to find one as good as the M.A.C one...until I tried out this lip kit. Not only is the "Trendsetter" lip liner so creamy and smooth, but it is almost an exact dupe for "Whirl", which I totally was not expecting. Needless to say, my M.A.C one is now gone from my life. ;)
The kit works in three steps: first, you line your lips halfway full with the liner. Then, you fill in your lips the rest of the way with the "Trendsetter" liquid lipstick. And lastly, you take the second liquid lip in "Bombshell" and dot it in the center of your lips (shown below) and, using a small concealer brush, blend it in with "Trendsetter" before it dries. I'll admit, the blending does take a minute to get the hang of, but once you've done it a few times, it's super easy!
As for the quality of the lipsticks, I was able to go a full day (10 am to 7 pm) while only touching up once. Compared to most liquid lipsticks, I would say that's VERY good, especially since I was able to eat full meals without the lipstick smudging. It definitely sticks to your lips like glue, but under no circumstance is it drying. I actually found these products to be the complete opposite- hydrating and softening!
I absolutely love this lip kit, and I definitely want to purchase the other colors. And if they ever start selling the lip liners separately...oooh boy, I'm going to be getting my hands on all of them! Haha! They're seriously one of my favorite makeup products right now.
