A few weeks ago, I had the honor of being able to work with Madewell on an in-store event at their Walnut Creek, CA location (my hometown!). It was so much fun, and so exciting, and so great to see everyone who came out. Keep reading below for a recap of our event, and stay tuned, because I think we're going to be putting another one on later this year. ;)
When Madewell first approached me about this event, I literally screamed. Just ask my friend Cherie- I was at a shoot with her, and took a quick break to check my phone when I saw the email pop up from them. Madewell has been one of my favorite, go-to brands for a long time. I've always loved their high-quality, lux basics, as well their commitment to sustainability. While they may not be the most sustainable retailer in the world yet, they're making huge strides (such as paying their workers living wages, using organic cottons, reducing water consumption, etc.) and to me, that is something worth celebrating, especially from a huge corporation. Needless to say, I immediately said "yes" and dove straight into the planning.
For the event, we knew we wanted to focus on Madewell's expanding sustainability practices, by promoting their "Blue Jeans Go Green" initiative. Basically, what this is, is if you bring in any old denim to Madewell (any day of the year!) they'll recycle it and use it for housing insulation. And in turn, you get $20 off a new pair of jeans. But since we wanted to make things a bit more special for the event, we offered some special perks, such as a free reusable tote and an extra 20% off your purchase coupon. It was such a good deal, and everyone who came in loved not only the perks, but the message, as well. We ended up getting so many jean donations that night, it was amazing! I was so happy to see people recycling their old clothing for a great cause, and swooping up some new pieces for their wardrobe, too! Above are some peeks at my favorites wrack from the night- a wrack of Madewell pieces that I personally picked out as my favorites. I'll link all of those pieces at the bottom of this post.
Unfortunately, it ended up being a toast 109 degree day in Walnut Creek that day, so there weren't many people out shopping at the outdoor mall, thus, we didn't quite get the turnout we expected. Which was completely okay and understandable- I would not have wanted to be shopping outside on a day like that either! It ended up being more of a small, intimate event, which was nice, and we still had tons of fun. I'm so thrilled I got to put on this event with Madewell, and cannot wait to work with them again in the future.
Huge thank-you to everyone who made it out to this event, or who helped spread the word about the event! You all are the best, and interacting with you is my favorite part of my day,
