In case you couldn't tell, I really, really love flowers. Especially, sunflowers.
I've always attributed it to being a spring baby. I was born on the California Coast, in Santa Barbara, in April, which is when all the flowers start blooming. Ever since I was little, I've always loved flowers. I grew up being a dancer, and one of my most favorite parts of dance recitals was always getting flowers from my parents. :) I've always dreamed of one day having a little home filled with fresh farmer's market flowers every week, and even having a fake flower wall inside. Call me crazy, but I really do have an obsession with flowers.
However, my favorite flowers have always been sunflowers. I don't know why, but something about their little yellow petals and brightness brings joy to my black heart (kidding). But if there's one person who loves sunflowers (and flowers in general) more than me, it's my darling friend Meg. Every shoot we do together seems to be centered around flowers, and we both have so much fun the entire time.
A few weeks ago, me, Meg, and our friends Lauren and Cherie decided to venture up to Dixon, CA (aka nowheresville, CA) to shoot in these massive sunflower fields that are only up for something like 2-3 weeks out of the year. We'd been planning this trip for months, and were so excited to finally get to play in the sunflowers. So, we packed up all our camera equipment (and between myself, Meg, and Lauren, there's a lot), and made the trek up to Dixon. If you're reading this and plan to go next year, be warned that there's really no address to the place- it's literally random fields off a random dirt road. Just follow the highway and you'll find them eventually. We got there a few hours until sunset, and shot for quite a few hours- through Golden Hour, Blue Hour, and finally, until the sun set. We danced and ran around and got covered in dirt, and had one of the best nights. I love getting to go out and adventure with my girls. It doesn't matter what we're doing- we always end up having the best time.
This was such a fun day, full of some of my favorite people and one of my favorite things. I love getting to share these happy moments on here with all of you. Happy moments make the world go 'round.
