There are few trends that I actually enjoy. To be completely honest, a lot of them I find to be purely novelty, and not worth the money. However, the lace-up trend has, for the past year or two since it's been around, consistently been one of my favorites. I don't even know why, but I've loved it in every forms: lace-up ballet flats, tees, tanks, dresses, jackets, and now, skirts. Hey, I'm non-discriminatory.
This skirt is so fun, and probably my favorite way to style this trend so far! It's a nice, sturdy denim that would look so cute with a vintage tee tucked into it (I might have to style it again, just like that). But for this look, I decided to keep things simple, with just a simple black crop top from Reformation. You guys know that I have an undying love for Reformation tees, and this one is one of my favorites. The simple ribbing gives some texture to the outfit, while also keeping things simple and minimal- just the way I like them.
This skirt was a little baggy in the waist, which is why it looks slightly bunched up, but it's supposed to be super fitted (I should probably get it altered at some point). The lace-ups give it a bit of a sexy touch, while the high waist keeps things classy and a bit more modest- modest enough that you can turn your tee into a crop top with a simple knot.
And, while this look could easily be dressed up with some wedges, I opted to keep things casual with a pair of my favorite kicks. I absolutely love the textures on these. The mix of the leather and suede is simple enough to pair well with a busy outfit, yet contrasting enough to bring life to a more minimal outfit. While the suede looks grey on camera, it's actually more of a dark green-grey in person, adding a little, subtle, pop of color to any outfit.
Of all the ways I've tried wearing the lace-up trend, this one is my favorite. I love how subtle the detailing is, yet how much of a pop it brings to this otherwise simple denim piece. Let me know if you plan to try this trend and, if so, in what way!
