There are few things I love more than a low-plunging v-neck. I virtually have no cleavage, so a low v-neck suits me well: it shows some skin, but doesn't look slutty. However, sometimes you need to be a little bit classy, and a low-plunging v-neck doesn't quite fit that bill.
In comes the classic button up shirt. A great staple by itself, it's also a perfect layering piece. They come in a variety of cuts and colors, and span across all price points- from $10 Forever 21 finds, to Dior duds, this is an essential piece for everyone, regardless of their lifestyle or affordability.
While I love the low neck of this dress for a day out with friends, it's a bit too low to wear day-to-day- to meetings, networking events, etc. Instead of adding a tank top underneath (which, i'm sorry, I absolutely cannot stand the look of) I opted to layer one of my favorite, classic button ups underneath. I bought this one a few years ago from Zara, and it's been a favorite piece of mine. I love wearing it underneath my floral embroidered leather jacket, or even by itself with some leather pants (I know, I know: I have an obsession with leather. This isn't new). But for a more easy-breezy, summer look, layering it under this dress keeps things a bit more modest, while also providing lightness and comfort.
As much as it's fun to show some skin, sometimes, you just have to keep things a little bit classy. I would end this by saying, "stay classy, sassy, and a little bit smart a**ey", but let's face it: we all know I'm rolling my eyes at the sheer thought of that.
